Fugro is offering free 1, 2 and 3-day classes on water investigation techniques, cone penetration testing, and engineering and environmental geophysics at several UK locations in the coming months. The water services course had it’s 1st offering this past October, the other two courses have been around longer. The next time you can catch all three appears to be in February, 2011 in Wallingford, Oxon with other offerings in Glasgow in January and Leeds in May. Ohio DOT Adopts GIS-Based EQuIS for Its Geotechnical Data Management
Redlands, California—The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) will implement an enterprise version of EarthSoft’s Environmental Quality Information System (EQuIS) for ArcGIS to better manage, analyze, and share geotechnical data throughout the organization. An agreement between ODOT and EarthSoft, an ESRI business partner, will see EarthSoft provide the transportation industry standard Data Interchange for Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Specialists (DIGGS) as electronic data deliverables (EDD). The new data will then reside and be accessible through ODOT’s enterprise-wide geographic information system (GIS)-supported EQuIS database.
New Subsea Robotic Geotechnical Site Investigation Company Formed

Fugro Offshore Geotechnics, specialists in marine site investigation and geo-consulting, and Gregg Marine, Inc., specialists in subsea robotic drilling and geotechnical testing services, announced today the successful formation of a new Joint Venture company: Seafloor Geotec, LLC (SGL).
