Geotechnical work has begun in Pacheco Pass, Santa Clara, as California moves ahead with planning for the United States’ first high-speed railway.  This segment is 84 miles, spanning between San Jose and Merced.  Kleinfelder is the geotechnical consultant, and they will drill up to 1,000 feet deep to characterize rock for potential tunnels and install piezometers along State Route 152.
