A Community of Practitioners

The etymology of GeoPrac.net is really quite simple…Geo for geotechnical, geologicalgeohydrology, geoenvironmental and geophysics and Prac for in Practice.

Our Mission

The mission of GeoPrac.net is to:

  • Create a community website where engineers, geoscientists, geophysicists and hydrologists from all of our target disciplines come together to collect valuable information and knowledge to apply in their practice.
  • Encourage and provide a forum for our members to share their knowledge and expertise with the rest of the GeoPrac.net community.
  • Keep our members and visitors informed of news, policy changes, software updates, and new sources of information pertinent to their areas of practice.

About the Founder

Randy Post (aka Rockman) started this site as both a labor of love and as a business venture. He is a graduate of the University of Arizona with a B.S. in Geological Engineering in 1999 and a M.S. in Mining, Geological and Geophysical Engineering in 2001. After graduation, he joined the Tucson, Arizona office of URS Corporation in their small geotechnical group. In  2004 he joined NCS Consultants, LLC, rejoining Naresh Samtani who hired him at URS (now AECOM). From there he joined Golder Associates Inc. in 2010.  In addition to his day job as a geotechnical engineer, he also dabbles in website consulting. This site represents a merging of two of his strongest passions. If you are curious, “Rockman” was the nickname lovingly given to him by his brother in law after graduating college. A more appropriate nickname would probably have been “Soilman”, but that’s decidedly less cool! Randy is also the creator of namedrawing.net.
