Jean-Louis Briaud will be the next President-Elect of ASCE. He is a well-known figure in geotechnical engineering and has been a dedicated servant of our profession. He will serve as President-Elect for 2020, and his term as President of the organization will begin in 2021. Congratulations to him and best of luck in his new role.
[Editor] Last week was the International Foundation Congress and Equipment Exposition in Orlando, Florida. The event was co-sponsored by the Geo-Institute, ADSC and PDCA. Perhaps at the next event I’ll be able to attend and provide some comprehesive coverage via GeoPrac. The American Society of Civil Engineers ASCE sent a cease and desist letter to the owner of the Levees.Org website notifying them to remove a video spoof of its post-Katrina levee inspection. Of course, through the wonders of the internet, Levees.org removed it from YouTube, but someone else posted it again. And because of all the fuss, it’s more popular than it would have been otherwise with over 16,000 views at the time of this post. Click through to watch it.
