Rockfall crushes house in Les Mees, France

A house was completely crushed by a massive rockfall that is more of a cliff collapse than a proper rockfall. The event occurred on December 2, 2019 in the village of Les Mees, Alpes de Haute Provence, France, near the iconic rock bluffs known as Les Pénitents. This house-sized rockfall makes the Colorado 145 boulder look like a pebble! According to the Landslide Blog, the event occurred at 4:15 pm local time and the residents of the house were at work so miraculously, no injuries were reported. If you look at the photos, you can see the titanic block at the base of the slope, but about 50 m downslope, you can see another house-sized rock as well. The photo below is of the “smaller” rock.
