A virtual conference on Lightweight Fill will be held on October 20-21, 2021. Lightweight fill materials are materials that have a lower unit weight than the unit weight of locally available compacted natural soil fill. Lightweight fill materials that have been successfully used in civil engineering applications include expanded polystyrene, i.e., geofoam, cellular concrete, wood fiber, blast furnace slag, boiler slag, fly ash, shredded tires, foamed glass aggregate, expanded shale, clay & slate, pumice, and basalt. The organizers are currently accepting abstracts until February 15, 2021.
As far as attendance goes, the registration fees are modest for attending, only $50. Proceeds will go to the ASCE G-I’s Student Fund – A very worthy cause! But if you register by the end of December using the code LWFCvirtual2021 (case sensitive) you get FREE REGISTRATION! That’s pretty tough to beat!
