Geotechnical Work Begins on Coffs Harbour Bypass Mega Project

Roberts Hill Tunnel Rendering for Coffs Harbour Bypass Project

The geotechnical program is about to begin on the $2.2B AUS ($1.4B USD) Coffs Harbour Bypass project in New South Wales, Australia. The design-builder will be conducting over 300 boreholes between 4 and 70 m deep (14 to 230 feet) and dozens of test pits along the project alignment. The 14 km (8.7 mile) project features three tunnels at major ridgelines, three major interchanges, access roads, and a new bus facility.

This is the biggest infrastructure project in the city’s history and it will be a key piece of infrastructure connecting Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, resulting in wider economic benefits for the Coffs Harbour area by making the CBD a more attractive place to visit, shop and work.
