DFI Webinar to Cover Transmission-Line Structures and Foundation Requirements

DFI webinar on foundation requirements for electric transmission structures from 69 kV to 500 kV

The Deep Foundations Institute’s Electric Power Systems Foundations Committee is offering a webinar on September 10 covering transmission-line structures and their foundation requirements. “From Pole to Pylon” will look at systems operating from 69 kV through 500 kV, with Jessica Halpern moderating presentations by Prasad Yenumula and Peter Kandaris.

Transmission foundations can involve a wide range of structure types, loads, access constraints, subsurface conditions, and construction methods. Peter is very well known for his geotechnical work in the power sector, and I know him through the Arizona chapters of AEG and the Geo-Institute. I expect this to be a useful introduction for engineers who work on utility projects or want a better understanding of this specialty.

The webinar is scheduled for September 10, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Eastern.
