GEOExplorerIQ Aims to Bring Geotechnical Monitoring Data Together

GEOExplorerIQ software view with a mine map and monitoring trend plots

Orica Digital Solutions has launched GEOExplorerIQ, a cloud platform intended to bring surface, subsurface, and satellite monitoring information into one environment. Orica says it is designed to progressively connect systems across its portfolio, along with selected third-party systems.

I can see the appeal. Radar, prisms, inclinometers, and piezometers can all be telling us something about the same slope while living in different software. Being able to compare those trends without shuffling between several interfaces could be useful, especially when someone needs to explain why an alert deserves attention.

I’d still have questions about how open the system is. What outside data can be brought in? How easily can the owner export everything later? Can you trace an alert back to the measurements and decisions behind it? Those are the details I’d want to understand before getting too excited about another dashboard. This is a product announcement, so the practical test will be how those connections work on an actual monitoring program.
