Standards and Codes

This post contains an update of new, revised and otherwise updated ASTM standards that pertain to the geotechnical engineering, materials testing and related fields.  This time around there are a number of geosynthetic standards being updated, including several new standards relating to QC testing of geomembranes and leak detection.  Sorry it hass been a little while since these updates were posted last.  ASTM changed the format of their emails, and the spreadsheet I use to parse them needed to be updated. Sorry for the delay, this should get me almost caught up.  This post contains new, revised, reapproved and other changes to ASTM standards that relate to geotechnical engineering, materials testing and related standards.  There is a new test method for consolidated drained triaxial compression test for soils, and a revised standard for the test method for compressive strength of cyllindrical concrete specimens among others.  Click through for the list.

July was a busy month for a number of ASTM committees.  Click through for a summary of last month’s revised and reapproved standards that are relevant to geotechnical engineering, materials testing, construction CQA, geosynthetics and related technologies.

It looks like May was a light month for updated ASTM standards related to geotechnical engineering, engineering geology and materials testing.  However, there are a few interesting ones, such as a new standard practice for active soil gas sampling in the vados zone for vapor intrusion evaluations and an update to the standard specifications for portland cement. Read on for March 2011 updates to ASTM standards that relate to geotechnical engineering, soil and rock testing, concrete and asphalt testing, and various other related disciplines.  In this batch is a new standard for geospacial data related to abandoned mines, and revisions to standard test methods for ready mix concrete (C94/C94M), a few asphalt standards and a revised standard (D6274) for testing gamma borehole geophysics.
