Schneider Electric, a French energy management company, is reported to be in talks to acquire Bentley Systems, the well-know engineering software company worth approximately $16B. Bentley has noted that discussions are at a preliminary stage, but has not offered any additional comment.
Bentley is a powerhouse in geotechnical software through it’s various acquisitions over the years. Software programs under their umbrella include gINT, OpenGround, PLAXIS, GeoStudio, Leapfrog Works, and others. According to Power Technology “If a full takeover occurs at current valuations, it would be one of the top ten US acquisitions by a French company, according to Dealogic.”
