A nine story apartment building in Guiyang city, China collapsed last week following heavy rains. Officials noted a landslide or mudslides were the apparent cause. Massive Landslide in B.C. Triggers Tsunami in Lake
A massive landslide triggered a 2 meter plus high wave at a lake in British Columbia. The resulting wave wiped out massive full grown cedar trees all along the lake and could have an environmental impact by damming up a stream that flows from the lake and also impacting fish populations. TenCate opens new factory in China for the growing geosynthetic market

Today marks the opening by Royal Ten Cate (Koninklijke Ten Cate nv) of its new factory for geosynthetic materials near the city of Zhuhai (pop. 1.5 m) in Guangdong province, China. TenCate Geosynthetics will use this plant to produce textiles for the strongly growing Asian market. The initial workforce will number some 150.
