The conference team did a great job setting up a fantastic field demo at a King County Maintenance Yard. The President of local geotechnical contractor DBM, Tom Armour was one of the people instrumental in setting it up, but he pointed out that there was a long list of people and companies that supported the program. Make sure to check out all the field demo photos on the GeoPrac.net Facebook page (no need for a Facebook account).
The setup included a station with a soldier pile wall with timber lagging and a soil nail wall in various states of completion. There was also an MSE wall station with three different wall systems that were being backfilled as the visitors watched. There was a station with an example of anchor strand and bar stressing using a demonstration frame from Contech. Finally, a Hilfiker Spiralnail wall was shown that is part of an ongoing research project. Check out the photo of the sponsors shown below, thanks to everyone who contributed!
