What appears to be a micropile rig was working to stabilize a landslide on the North Shore of Auckland, New Zealand when a second landslide struck. The initial landslide occurred in early October, affecting a parking lot in a suburban retail area and sending it down into the gorge. A micropile drilling rig was working to stabilize the site in Birkenhead on November 28 when a second, larger landslide took out the rig, some fencing, and an access road. Fortunately, no one was injured. A spokesperson for Auckland Transport thought that the rig could be salvaged.
