Dataforensics and USACE are Bentley Award Finalists for Subsurface Modeling

3D subsurface data for a USACE Dam Project

The United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has partnered with Dataforensics to implement an enterprise subsurface data management system that will provide a myriad of benefits across their organization. The project involved the digitization of millions of linear feet of borehole and other data stored in disparate systems into a single enterprise database powered by Bentley’s OpenGround Cloud. Bentley recently selected the project as a finalist for their Year in Infrastructure awards in the Subsurface Modeling category.

Dataforensics cleaned, standardized, and imported the data, which they accomplished by developing a data migration platform to automate the process. The platform saved over 60,000 hours compared to a manual migration process, while also increasing data quality and robustness. The combined geotechnical data management solution of pLog Tablet, OpenGround, and KeyLAB will help the USACE with collecting new data while providing access to historical data across the organization. This opens the possibility of reducing the cost and carbon and environmental footprint of geotechnical investigations by making use of previous geotechnical data. The new and historic data can also be integrated into external applications through connections with programs like LeapFrog, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Geostudio, and Plaxis.

Congratulations to Dataforensics and the USACE! Best of luck at the Year in Infrastructure Awards!
