Landslide Emoji Coming to iOS 26.4

The landslide emjoji is part of Unicode 17.0 and will be included in iOS 26.4 (also Hairy Creature, Orca, Fight Cloud, and Distorted Face...and a few others)

Geo-engineers rejoice: The landslide emoji is coming in the next major iOS update!

The emoji showing a mountain with several rocks falling down it was one of a handful of new emojis announced by Apple earlier this month. They are part of a collection of 8 emojis announced by the Unicode Consortium over the summer. Reportedly, some Android users may already have the emoji, but Apple users like me will just see a square box for the missing emoji 😢.

The update is supposedly coming to iPhones in “spring 2026”. Finally, I will have the tools to articulate a hairy creature (aka. sasquatch) triggering a landslide with a subsequent dust cloud (fight cloud more specifically) that tragically killed a passing orca…and my distorted face reaction to the chaos.

Landslide blocks SR 14 east of Cedar City, UtahA large landslide has closed SR 14 east of Cedar City, Utah. UDOT expects that the road will be closed for up to 2 weeks for cleanup and to ensure that the slope is safe. Boulders up to an estimated 20 tons are now blocking the road and will likely need to be blasted down to a smaller size. A UDOT spokesman interviewed on the video shown after the break estimate the size of the slide at 700 to 800-ft long and 10 to 12-ft thick.

Landslide / Mudslide in Logan Utah

A landslide in Logan Utah caused a portion of a canal to fail, causing a second mudslide. Three people, a mother and two children, were believed to be buried when the mud and debris hit their home. Rescue efforts were halted fairly quickly because of concern regarding the stability of the hillside. So far I have not read any reports that the bodies have been recovered.
