In an update to our earlier stories, retail giant Wal-Mart has released a statement on Wednesday that they will not build a store at the site of a massive landslide almost a year earlier. They plan to restore the site to a native state complete with trees and other vegetation. The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Quality is requiring them to submit a new plan for stabilization of the site. Check out the AP article at CentreDaily.

A massive landslide triggered a 2 meter plus high wave at a lake in British Columbia. The resulting wave wiped out massive full grown cedar trees all along the lake and could have an environmental impact by damming up a stream that flows from the lake and also impacting fish populations. Apparently salmon migrate through this lake also. Video coverage after the break. (Photo by CBCNews.ca)
