Fugro just announced a contract with a mineral exploration company that will have them performing ultra-deepwater surveys to collect high-resolution imagery, geophysical data, and perform sampling of the sea floor to support mining of polymetallic nodules from the sea floor. The work will include measuring geotechnical properties and cataloging mineral resources over a 400-square-km area at depths of up to 4,500 meters.
