In their October 2010 cover story, Tunnel Business Magazine (TBM) had this article on the construction of the Washington, D.C. Metro system. They describe how this was the first use of the NATM in the U.S., and the first use of earth pressure balance TBM’s based on Japanese technology. It’s an interesting article.
