Iraq Dam in Danger of Collapse

In terms of internal erosion potential of the foundation, Mosul Dam is the most dangerous dam in the world.

The assessment stems from a 2006 report by the US Army Corps of Engineers that was recently released.  The article goes on to describe conditions at the site where 24 grout pumps work continuously to pump grout into the base of the dam in an attempt to stop or slow seepage. There is also mention of problems with sinkholes related to dissolution of gypsum or something to that effect.
