Jury Returns Verdict for HDR in Lawsuit by Tampa Bay Water

A federal jury deliberated only 3 hours to return a verdict in favor of HDR, exonerating them of claims by Tampa Bay Water that they had violated the standard of care in the design of a reservoir that was experiencing cracking. Since the jury did not find HDR had violated the standard of care, there was no award and the TBW will have to pay for repairs themselves.

Although Tampa Bay Water had sought more than $100 million to repair the reservoir, the sides nearly settled the case in September for $30 million. But in October, Tampa Bay Water’s board of directors changed its mind and voted unanimously to reject the settlement.
