The Toronto Transit Commission is starting a $2.6 Billion project to connect the City of Toronto with the municipality of York. This Toronto-York Spadina Subway Extension Project (TYSSE) consists of an 8.2 km extension of the existing subway system, including over 6 km of 5.4 m diameter twin tunnels bored with 4 (yep, 4) Lovat Tunnel Boring Machines or TBMs. The new stations and lines are scheduled to be open in 2015.
