Regional Roads Victoria (Australia) has announced the completion of slope stabilization work at Namesone Point along the scenic Great Alpine Road in Gippsland. The work was part of $4.3M (AUS) in landslip remediation funding that included 3 other sites along the corridor. What caught my eye was this great photograph of the classic wedge failures along the road. I haven’t seen photos of the completed works, but it sounds like the mitigation at Namestone Point included rock bolting and draped mesh or cable net, which makes sense looking at the photo. Apparently, these sites are just part of a larger package of $32.8M in landslip funding statewide.
